Born in Teramo in 1963, began studying music at the age of 7. He studied with Lucia Passaglia, former pupil of Benedetti Michelangeli and Cortot, at the “L. Cherubini” in Florence graduating in Piano in 1984 with honors, ministerial mention and prize as the best graduate (among all instruments and courses of study) in Tuscany.
He continued his studies privately with Guido Agosti, at the HochSchule Mozarteum in Salzburg with Hans Graf, and at the Accademia Perosi in Biella with Aldo Ciccolini, where he achieved the Higher Three-year Diploma of improvement and virtuosity.
Subsequently, in 2008, he attended the “N.  Piccinni ”of Bari also the Second Level Academic Diploma in Piano with full marks and honors.
At the same time, he graduated in Literature in 1989 from the University of Florence with honors and a thesis on the B minor Sonata by Franz Liszt, supervised by Maestro Clemente Terni. In 2006 this title was recognized ope legis Master’s degree in “Musicology and musical heritage”.
Awarded from a young age at the most important national and international competitions – one for all the 1st Absolute Prize of the Caltanissetta International Chamber Music Competition (Competition in the Palmarès of the International Federation) – he has performed several hundreds of concerts worldwide: Italy, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, France, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, the United States, etc.,  for the most important  Theaters and Organizations. Among the concert halls are: Musikhalle of Hamburg, Teatro Comunale of Florence, Parco della Musica of Rome, Mozarteum of Salzburg, Piccinni Foundation of Bari.
Two of his recordings that deserve particular mention are a monographic CD on Beethoven’s latest piano works (Sonatas op. 110 and 111, Bagatelle) and the first recording of the Trio by Nino Rota, courtesy of the “Cini” Foundation of Venice.
Piero Di Egidio has a solo and chamber repertoire that ranges from Bach to today’s music, with a preference for L. van Beethoven and especially for Franz Liszt, of whom he is a refined performer of most of the boundless piano work.  He is also a highly appreciated performer of music for films (Morricone, Bacalov, Nascimbene, Crivelli, Piovani) and of the work of Astor Piazzolla. He has performed as a soloist with orchestra piano concerti by Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Liszt, etc.
Winner of the Teaching Competition for various disciplines both musical and literary in several school orders and AFAM, where he has carried out teaching activities, such as Piano (major and minor), History of Music, Chamber Music,  Poetic and Dramatic Literature, Music Education, Theory, Rhythm and Musical Perception, Score Reading.
From 1997 to 2012 he is Vice-Director and Director of the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “G. Braga” in Teramo, former Director in charge of the Municipal Music Institute “A. Vivaldi” in San Benedetto del Tronto, then teacher of Chamber Music at the Conservatory “L. D’Annunzio” in Pescara and Piano at the Conservatories “U. Giordano” in Foggia and “N. Piccinni” in Bari. He is currently Full Professor of Piano at the Conservatory “A. Casella” of L’Aquila.
He has served as President and Member the Ministerial Committee for several terms and as Chairman for the 2016 and 2018 Music High Schools Competition.
Considered among the leading experts in music school legislation and AFAM, he is ANVUR Ministerial Expert and President of the Evaluation Committee at the Catania and Palermo Conservatories.
In 2011 he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for artistic and musical merits with a bronze medal by the President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano.
By Decree of 2 June 2013 he is Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic for artistic merits.
