ANTONIO MARCELLINO

After his classical studies, he took M° Eliodoro Sollima’s composition courses and he graduated in Piano, Musicology and Paleography and Musical Philology (University of Pavia – Cremona).
​Contract professor of Music Iconography, Professor of Contemporary History of Music and Economics Organization of Performing Arts (University of Calabria); Professor of Musicology and History of Music and Organization of Musical Events and Performing Arts (University of Messina); Professor of Organizational Systems for Performing Arts (University of Rome Tor Vergata) and Professor of Organology (Conservatory of Music «Santa Cecilia» in Rome), he is currently Principal professor of History of Music (Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali «Vincenzo Bellini» in Catania) and adjunct professor of History of Musical Instruments (University of Rome Tor Vergata).
​Supervisor in national and international seminars and conferences, he has participated in research programs with the Universities of Calabria, Catania, Cordoba, Innsbruck, Lecce, Messina, Palermo, Pavia, Richmond, Rome and Tours.
​He has published with the magazines «Drammaturgia», «Helikon», «Liuteria», «Rivista Italiana di Musicologia», «Quaderni della Rivista Italiana di Musicologia» and with the publishing houses Libreria Musicale Italiana, Olschki, Palombi, Velar.
​Founding member of the Association «Il Saggiatore musicale» (DAMS – Department of Arts of the University of Bologna), he was an Advisory board member of the National Academy of Dance of Rome and the Foundation «Ottavio Ziino» – Orchestra of Rome and Lazio; he was Vice-President of the Ente Autonomo Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana; he was Chairma of the Board of Statutory Auditors and responsible for the «Conferences» secionr of the Board of the Italian Society of Musicology and a member of the Technical Commission for Musicians of ENPALS-ENAP and of the Music Commission of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (2002-2013).
​He worked and edited the project for the new museological and museographic order of the «Museo Civico Belliniano» of Catania and is currently Superintendent of the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, member of the Board of Directors of the Claudio Monteverdi Foundation of Cremona, member of the jury of the prestigious Premio Scanno, member of the Editorial Committee of the Italian Song Portal (MiBAC, Istituto Centrale per i Beni Sonori e Audiovisivi, Società Ales) and member of the Commission for Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of Catania. Since 2005 he has been president of the International Festival of Val di Noto «Magie Barocche».
​He held seminars at the Business School of «Il Sole 24 ORE» (2nd Master Media Relations. Communication strategies and public relations management), at the National Academy of Music of Ukraine «Pëtr Il’ič Ciajkovskij» in Kiev (Music, sources, images and performance practice between the 16th and 17th centuries) and he collaborated with the Bocconi University of Milan (School of Management, Master in Management for Entertainment) on the monitoring of the Val di Noto International Festival «Magie Barocche». He was professor ofArt and Music in the EU-US ATLANTIS project – Transatlantic Degree Cinema and Language Programme (University of Messina, Cordoba and Richmond) and Legal aspects of show business in the Master in Sonic Arts – Music Management and Production at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
​He received the «Operosità» ENPALS-ENAP prize and the prestigious Diapason d’or de l’année for the production of The Musick for the Royal Fireworks and Concerti a due chorus by Georg Friederich Händel (Sony)..
